The Holy Father gave words of encouragement and missionary impulse to the thousands of families who came from different parts of the world to pilgrimage to Rome and participate in the Jubilee held last weekend, focusing on the Gospel of John 17:21, where Jesus says: “…that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us.”
Leo XIV emphasized that “upon the foundation of Christ, we will be a sign of peace for all in society, with the family as the place where faith is ed on, where the food of the table and the affections of the heart are shared.”
He also highlighted: “…today’s world needs the marital covenant to know and embrace the love of God and to overcome, with its uniting and reconciling strength, the forces that fragment relationships and societies.”
The Holy Father also said to spouses: “I say to you, spouses, with a heart full of gratitude and hope: marriage is not an ideal, but the norm of true love between man and woman; a total, faithful, and fruitful love.”
“I encourage you to be an example of consistency for your children, behaving as you wish they would behave, educating them in freedom through obedience, always seeking ways to grow the good within them,” he concluded.
